My life leading up to this trip:

I was a NC Teaching Fellow and attended  from 1994-1998.  This is my 8th year teaching, but I haven’t taught for 8 years straight.  I have had the great fortune of being able to travel quite a bit, so every once in a while I take a year off and try living in a different country for awhile.  So far I have made it to Canada , Mexico , Ecuador , Australia , New Zealand , Japan ,

and most if the 50 states  (including Alaska and Hawaii…our endeavor this summer will take care of any states I may have missed in my travels!)  One of my goals in life is to visit all 7 continents before I die (I have 3 to go… 4 if you count mainland Asia.)  I have my National Board Certification and currently teach high school Social Studies.  I am also working on getting my Master’s Degree in Instructional Technology from , a program that is completely online, I never have to set foot on campus (technology is an amazing thing!)  I love teaching history, but who knows where this new degree may take me.  I believe in following your dreams, taking advantage of

every opportunity that comes your way (even if it’s risky,) and curling up with a good book (preferably in a hammock on a beautiful day) in my free time (which isn’t as often as I would like.)

Currently my favorite pastime is spending time with my “new” husband (we got married June 2, 2007) and our dog and two cats.
