Q: When are you leaving? A: I will probably take off in mid-February to mid-March depending on the response to the website. So…it depends a lot on you and how many people you forward this too…no pressure or anything though….I kid, I kid Q: How long will this take you? A: I have planned out 148 stops along the way. I will undoubtedly need day off here and there though so I guess it will be about 5 ˝ to 6 months. Q: Why Newport-to-Newport? A: Why not? It sounds kindda cool and they are both really nice places. Q: How many miles will you run a day? A: probably about 20 – 25 on average. However, there will be days where I will have to run longer and days where I will run less to recover. Q: How long will it take you to run the 20 miles A: It depends. I don’t plan on running really fast. I’ll probably average about 9 – 10 min. miles although some days I might run slower or faster, depending on who’s running with me and how I feel Q: How will you transport your stuff? A: By baby jogger. Scott and Dave from www.runtheusa.com and John from www.seejohnrun.com used this method. A backpack would add too much extra weight and I do not want to use a support vehicle. This should be a funny site. I encourage you to look at the pictures of me running with a baby jogger and laugh. Q: You are not using a support vehicle…are you crazy? A: Absolutely. I feel as though a support vehicle would take away some of the essence of the run. Q: Are you running with anybody? A: Not yet. A couple friends said they would come with me for segments of the trip. If you want to come and run…that would be cool…I’ll buy you a beer, soda, juice or whatever your fancy is, when we’re done. Actually, now that I think of it, I’m going to be kindda broke so I don’t know if I could swing that. Well, regardless, come out and keep me company…we’ll have a blast. Q: Where will you stay/sleep? A: I hope people will volunteer to house me for a night (see how you can help page). If I do not have housing for a particular night I will look for a local college, church, YMCA…and see if they would be willing to help. Otherwise I will have a tent with me and I will camp out. Q: What will you do if you break an ankle, get attacked by a bear, get lost, get sick, get injured or any of the other things that could happen to you. A: Ya had to go and bring up the bad stuff…didn’t ya? Just kidding. Hopefully, something like that won’t happen but it’s a definite possibility. Therefore, I have taken a couple precautions such as I will carry mace and a good knife, a compass as well as direction from one town to the next and several other things. Q: Are you insane? A: Yes I am. However, I think everybody is insane in his or her own respect. People just don’t always show it Q: Are you going to write a book after you are done? A: Quit possibly. We’ll see. If you would like to publish a book that I would write, then get in touch with me. Q: Are you doing this for a charity? A: Good question. No I am not. I strongly encourage people to give to charities. In fact I have listed several that I think are good ones. Q: How will people find out about this site? A: That all depends on how many people you forward this to. Seriously though it would be a big help if you could forward this to everyone you know. Q: How are you going to fund this? A: Credit cards are a wonderful invention. The little piece of plastic allowed me to travel Australia and it is going to allow me to run across the U.S. I also will use money I have saved from my job and I am getting a loan from the parental unit.
